Description

Basic Slinging Loads is the introductory course for anyone who wants to pursue a career as a Dogman and/or Crane Operator.

It's the prerequisite for the following:

  • 3800 - Overhead Gantry Crane

  • 16617 - Truck Loader Crane

  • 20208 - Self-Erecting Tower Crane

  • 3789 - Dogman

Course Objectives

Once you've successfully completed the course, the attendee will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of hazards, hazard control, and lift planning.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of lifting gear and working load limit (WLL) tables.

  • Preparation for, and slinging regular loads safely.

  • Correct selection and use of rigging equipment, knots and dunnage.

Important note: All unit standards are awarded by EarnLearn-Te Pukenga.

Other Requirements

  • Lifting equipment must be certified when carrying out the practical components of the assessment.

  • All students need to provide photo identification, either drivers licence or passport on the day.

  • A room big enough for all the students to sit & do the written part of the assessment.

  • If you could provide either a whiteboard or a clear wall that I can project onto for the course presentation, this will be a huge help for your team & their assessments.
